Fast-forward 1 year to Sea Camp. I was the Photography Camp Counselor at Sea Camp and Chris was one of the Marine Mammal Camp Counselors. We were suite-mates and got to talking about the next summer. Chris and I had gone to college together and we have ended up at Sea Camp a few times at the same time by chance. We decided to coordinate and be counselors for the same camp at the same time. We signed up for the Marine Mammal Camp and because the camp was so big, we ended up being roommates = a lot of time to talk! She told me about these cute babies that a cat has had.
They had tried to capture Mom to spay, but could not get her fast enough. Mom had her litter, Chris and her husband (and some friends) caught mom and brought in the babies. There were two orange/yellow tabbies and then the little Tortoise-shell. I fell in love the little Tortoise-shell girl. When I was in elementary school, I had a orange/golden tabby named Earnest - named after his original owner - otherwise known as Uncle French. Earnest was my baby, slept with me, cuddled with stuffed animals, and was my first cat. Our house burned down when I was 12 and he made it out alive, but ran away and broke my heart. I cannot look at a golden tabby without thinking about him.
I decided it was time to cash in on my wish. I needed a baby. I went to Chris's house to just look at her, but ended up driving home with her. This was on July 14, 2012 - Mom's Birthday.
She drove home with me. She cried a little, walked around the crate, and there were some theatrics. She had a welcoming party when she got home. Jeff was at work. I needed a kitty potty and kitty litter, so Dad went at bought one. When I got home, Mom, Dad, and my mom's long-time friend that was in for one night Laurie were there to meet the sweet little girl.
I had thought about some names, but nothing sounded right.
Jeff had thought of the name Sandy - because of the beach. So let me introduce you to my Sandy. The next spoiled animal in the house!

We got a pillowcase from mom and the litter-mates and she went right to sleep on my lap.

The drive home - No I was not driving and taking a picture...
